7 JUNE 2022, LABUAN – Pursuant to the Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s announcement during the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will launch a National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) in July to detect non-communicable diseases (NCD) in Malaysia.
ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) through private medical practitioners and Healthcare NGOs will work together with the MOH to maximise the implementation of the NHSI in order to attain the target.
In conjunction with the NHSI, ProtectHealth has since last year been embarking on a series of engagements with all the states in the country through its programme called Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 or known as PeKa B40 to spread the awareness of the importance of health screening.
One of the engagements was with the Federal Territory of Labuan Health Department, which was held today with Dr. Mohd Zaki Bin Ab Hamid, Deputy Director of State Health (Public Health) Labuan, Dr. Noorharizan binti Harun, Deputy Director of State Health (Medical Division) Labuan, Dr.Viviane Vincy Lodin, Head of Family Health Development Section, Public Health Division, Dr. Azrah Binti Hamzah, Supervisor for Primary Health Clinic and Dr.Sabrina Dhanamani Daniel, Head of Development Section, Public Health Division and also with seven participating General Practitioners in Labuan.

“However, there are more than 12,631 who are eligible but haven’t taken the opportunity to do the health screening under the PeKa B40 in Labuan. Early detection prevents complications and saves lives. As such, we encourage all Labuan B40 population to visit any of the participating clinics to get the free screening.” he told the media during the press briefing at Millennium Clinic, here today.
Dato’ Dr Anas also visited four other clinics under PeKa B40 to observe the health screenings of several beneficiaries.
From the total screenings in Malaysia, it is reported that 40 percent of the beneficiaries were diagnosed with at least one NCD.
