30 OCTOBER 2021 – Following the announcement of the Budget 2022, ProtectHealth welcomes the allocation of RM32.4 billion to the Health Ministry, which shows the concern of the Government in the wellbeing of the Rakyat. ProtectHealth will continue to prioritize the healthcare of the B40 group through PeKa B40 and assist the government in the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) implementation.

ProtectHealth will also continue to facilitate the MOH in its efforts to provide booster doses to adults and vaccination programmes for adolescents and children aged 12 to 17 through the involvement of private medical practitioners and Health NGOs. As of October 29, 2021, ProtectHealth has successfully contributed 48% of the total vaccinations throughout Malaysia, which is equivalent to 23,576,102 doses in PICK.

In line with the company’s mission which is “Your Health, Our Mission”, ProtectHealth will continue to support the National Agenda of Healthy Malaysia as outlined in Budget 2022, which aims to promote a culture of a healthy lifestyle in tackling the problem of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli stated that focus on public awareness and early detection and intervention of non-communicable diseases is very important as it will provide greater benefits in the long run such as improving the quality of life and saving the cost of treatment for the related diseases.

As of 30 September 2021, ProtectHealth has conducted health screenings of more than 530,000 eligible beneficiaries nationwide through PeKa B40 and over 40% have been detected to have at least one non-communicable disease. Moving forward, ProtectHealth will conduct more outreach programmes together with various parties to ensure that those eligible for the PeKa B40 scheme receive its benefits.

In addition, ProtectHealth also fully supports the allocation of RM70 million in the Budget 2022, which focusses on mental health issues, including strengthening support, counselling and psychology services, increasing advocacy programmes and boosting the role of non-governmental organisations as movers of mental health programmes. ProtectHealth will play a significant role in this area through research where recipients of PeKa B40 will stand to benefit.

Overall, ProtectHealth lauds the announcement of Budget 2022 in strengthening the national healthcare system and COVID-19 management in line with the 12th Malaysia Plan to restructure the country’s healthcare system.
