3 AUGUST 2023 – Since 15 June 2023, Skim Perubatan MADANI, a pilot initiative by the Government of Malaysia through the Ministry of Health has been initially rolled-out to the B40 population in 10 designated districts namely Johor Bahru (Johor), Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Klang, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Gombak (Selangor), Kinta (Perak), Timur Laut (Pulau Pinang), Kuching (Sarawak) and Kota Kinabalu (Sabah). The scheme provides recipients of Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah with free Acute Primary Care Services where the lower-income group can seek treatment at private medical clinics (GPs) registered under Skim Perubatan MADANI.
ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) as the scheme administrator is vigorously promoting the scheme, ensuring widespread adoption and successful implementation targeting Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah recipients as they are entitled to enjoy the benefits.
Since its introduction, ProtectHealth has been proactively engaging with representatives from relevant states, government agencies, NGOs, associations as well as community leaders across the country such as Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, FELDA, FELCRA, PERTIWI, PERPEKLI, UNI-MLC and MySejahtera. Up to July 2023, ProtectHealth has been diligently gearing up to meet and conduct briefings to 70 Klinik Kesihatan (KK) and 186 GPs involving the 10 districts. Throughout the same period, six briefings were held to PPR/PA Resident Associations and local communities, with a high B40 population. These include PPR Pangsapuri Sri Kasih, PPR Taman Kajang Sentral, PPR Taman Medan Jaya and many more. The primary focus of these engagements is to raise awareness about the scheme’s benefits and the government’s efforts to enhance access to acute primary care services in the private sector for the lower-income group. As of 1 August 2023, the number of registered GPs for the programme has surpassed 600 clinics and the ongoing effort involves the addition of more GPs across all districts. To date, more than 28,000 B40 households have obtained treatment under the Skim Perubatan MADANI.
Plans are also underway to expand this scheme to more districts such as Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas (Kelantan), Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus (Terengganu), Kuantan (Pahang), Melaka Tengah (Melaka), Seremban (Negeri Sembilan), Kota Setar, Kuala Muda (Kedah), Seberang Perai Tengah (Pulau Pinang) and Perlis.
We urge eligible beneficiaries to obtain cost-free treatment at the nearest GP clinic by simply bringing their identification card, without prior registration required.
