HEALTH SCREENINGS UNDER PeKa B40 IN SARAWAK INCREASE MORE THAN DOUBLE IN THE FIRST TWO QUARTERS

15 SEPTEMBER 2022, SIBU – Health screening in Sarawak conducted under the Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 (PeKa B40) has increased more than double in the first seven months of the year.

All of this was contributed by 16,325 health screenings conducted from 1 January 2022 until 31 July 2022 in Sarawak, against 7,274 screenings conducted during the same corresponding period last year.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) remains focused on its aggressive steps to screen over 22,300 beneficiaries in Sarawak for 2022, under Peka B40, in view of the positive performance it has recorded during the first two quarters this year.

ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli expressed confidence in meeting the increased target with the numbers of beneficiaries screened in Sarawak after two years of decrease in the take up rate due to COVID-19.

“Despite the challenge in educating the intended group on healthcare, we believe that the target is achievable and would contribute to the national target for 2022, which is to screen at least 200,000 beneficiaries under this scheme.

“This year’s national target is double the total numbers that PeKa B40 achieved in 2021 with 101,673 screenings,” he said, adding that in Sarawak, since PeKa B40 was implemented from 15 April 2019 to 31 August 2022, a total of 96,427 individuals have been screened.

Dato’ Dr. Anas said during a visit to Yek’s Clinic and Klinik Kesihatan (KK) Jalan Lanang. Yek’s Clinic is the Private Clinic that recorded the highest PeKa B40 health screening in Sibu while KK Lanang recorded the highest screening for KK.

Meanwhile, in Sibu, a total of 11,757 screenings have been conducted while there are 44,350 who are eligible but have not done the screenings yet.

However, Sibu has recorded 41% of increase in total screenings from 1 January to 31 July 2022 (2,438) as compared to the same period last year (1,726).

ProtectHealth is committed to fulfil its purpose in providing free health screening to the members of the public who are in the bottom 40% income (B40) group, aged 40 years and above, through this health scheme and encourages those eligible in Sarawak to come
forward to undergo the free health screening. Other health benefits include Health Aid (HA), Completing Cancer Treatment Incentive (CCTI) and Transport Incentive (TI).

With the set target and in continuing the recovery momentum, ProtectHealth intensifies its efforts through various programmes that have been planned throughout the year, including a series of health initiative roadshows called ‘Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS)’ which was also launched at state level, nationwide.

PeKa B40 was designed to focus on early detection and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancers, and heart diseases or known as NCD amongst the B40. Therefore, the beneficiaries would be more aware of their overall health status.

“The low-income population in Malaysia is facing various health challenges, particularly related to NCD and poor mental health, nutritional and physical function and this is basically because of financial constraints. This is the reason why they need to make use of this scheme.

“Hence, we have been embarking on a series of engagements and outreaches throughout the country, to spread the awareness of PeKa B40 and ensuring the programme is more accessible to the Rakyat, and one is left behind when it comes to healthcare. Early screening saves lives and costs as we prevent complication, early treatment and increase quality lifespan,” stated Dato’ Dr. Anas.

Members of the public may check their eligibility, by keying their IC number on our website at https://kelayakan.pekab40.com.my/semakan-kelayakan.

PeKa B40 scheme in Sarawak is supported by 117 general practitioners, 150 government clinics (Klinik Kesihatan), 23 government hospitals and 14 pathology labs.

PROTECTHEALTH AND MOH SET NEW MALAYSIAN RECORD, RECOGNISED BY THE MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS

13 SEPTEMBER 2022, PUTRAJAYA – ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) together with the Ministry of Health (MOH) set a new Malaysian record title ‘MOST VACCINATION DOSES ADMINISTERED IN A DAY’ and was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records, through the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program (PICK) which has been implemented since February 2021.

This award resulted from the strategic Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) throughout PICK, a challenging yet rewarding programme that was launched in an effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Malaysia.

In order to ensure that vaccinations are administered quickly to everyone, especially with the presence of new variants that are high-risk at that time, the Government has mobilised the entire machinery and cooperated with the private sector by forming the largest PPP in the healthcare industry led by ProtectHealth, in line with the “whole-of-nation” and “whole-of-society” approach.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has forced our health industry to reform and improved, when this strategic PPP was formed to ensure accessibility to healthcare and comprehensive vaccination programme to all nations that no one is left behind.

MOH and ProtectHealth have worked together in leading PICK with more than 72 million doses of vaccine which have been administered to Keluarga Malaysia and on July 28, 2021 the highest number of daily vaccinations were recorded with 581,566 doses administered, resulting in the recognition by the Malaysia Book of Records.

Meanwhile, ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli hopes that this recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records will fuel the spirit for ProtectHealth to continue leading the PPP in the healthcare sector, as well as empower the country’s health system to become more resilient and robust in the future.

“There are wisdoms in every test we endure. The COVID-19 outbreak has brought up opportunities for collaboration that we never expected before.

“With this meaningful award, I assure that ProtectHealth will continue to uphold the mandate entrusted by the MOH and continue to be a leader in healthcare PPP and improve the country’s health system by more involvement with stakeholders participation,” added Dato’ Dr. Anas.

Dato’ Dr. Anas also highlighted that the Record Breaking COVID-19 Vaccination: Public-Private Partnership Report which was also launched has successfully recorded all the meaningful events and achievements throughout the PICK and it will serve as an important reference material in the future.

“I believe that the report will give a full picture of PICK’s journey, how it started and its impact in helping the country to curb the spread of COVID-19 outbreak,” he added.

The ceremony – Majlis Penganugerahan Malaysia Book of Records dan Pelancaran Laporan Record Breaking COVID-19 Vaccination: Public-Private Partnership, was also attended by MOH Secretary-General Datuk Harjeet Singh A/L Hardev Singh.

Also celebrated during the ceremony were 41 award recipients consisting of clinics, private hospitals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who have provided excellent service and cooperation in making PICK a success.

The list of award recipients is as in Appendix 1.

PROTECTHEALTH OPTIMISTIC TO SCREEN OVER 23,500 JOHOREANS ELIGIBLE FOR PeKa B40 SCHEME IN 2022

12 AUGUST 2022, JOHOR BAHRU – ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) remains focused on its aggressive steps to screen over 23,500 beneficiaries in Johor for 2022, under its programme called Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 (Peka B40), in view of the positive performance it has recorded in the first half of the year.

The total number of screenings during the first six months stood at 13,001, against 4,756 screenings conducted during the same period last year.

ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli expressed confidence in meeting the increased target with the numbers of beneficiaries screened in Johor between 1 January to 31 July last year, which have increased and more than doubled from 5,523 to 17,165 people, compared to the same corresponding period this year.

“Despite the challenge in educating the intended group on healthcare, we believe that the target is achievable and would contribute to the national target for 2022, which is to screen at least 200,000 beneficiaries under this scheme.

“This year’s national target is double the total numbers that PeKa B40 achieved in 2021 with 101,673 screenings,” he said, adding that in Johor, since PeKa B40 was implemented from 15 April 2019 to 31 July 2022, a total of 63,961 individuals have been screened.

ProtectHealth is committed to fulfil its purpose in providing free health screening to the members of the public who are in the bottom 40% income (B40) group, aged 40 years and above, through this health scheme and encourages those eligible in Johor to come forward to undergo the free health screening. Other health benefits include Health Aid (HA), Completing Cancer Treatment Incentive (CCTI) and Transport Incentive (TI).

With the set target and in continuing the recovery momentum, ProtectHealth intensifies its efforts through various programmes that have been planned throughout the year, including a series of health initiative roadshows called ‘Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS)’ which
was also launched at state level by the Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin at Tebing Bandar Dato’ Onn and Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi here, today.

“Hence, we have been embarking on a series of engagements and outreaches throughout the country, to spread the awareness of PeKa B40 and ensuring the programme is more accessible to the Rakyat, so no one is left behind when it comes to healthcare. PROTECTHEALTH FORGES AHEAD WITH PeKa B40 IN LINE WITH NATIONAL HEALTH SCREENING INITIATIVE (NHSI)

20 JULY 2022 – As one of the strategic partners for the National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) campaign, which was launched on July 16, 2022, ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) came in full force with several Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 (PeKa B40) outreach programmes and awareness booths in several states of Malaysia from July 15 to 17, 2022.

The launch of the NHSI and Jelajah Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat (ANMS) leg in Perak was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Saarani bin Mohamad, Menteri Besar of Perak and YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Health at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah, Meru Raya, Ipoh. Running as a five-month campaign until end of this year, NHSI aims to screen 1.5 million people while PeKa B40 is targeting 200,000 for year 2022. The level of health awareness in the country is still low when only about 53 per cent of Malaysian adults have undergone medical check-ups in the past one-year. As such the Ministry of Health has launched the NHSI campaign through its Jom Saring! drive.

During the officiating ceremony, all strategic partners including ProtectHealth held placards to display their commitment towards the NHSI campaign. PeKa B40 is a Government initiative via the Ministry of Health that aims to sustain low-income groups’ healthcare needs by focusing on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and provides free health screening amongst others. ProtectHealth is the healthcare scheme administrator for PeKa B40.

A total of 5,950,291 Malaysians are eligible to receive benefits under the PeKa B40 programme. As of June 30, 2022, 640,553 individuals have been screened since the launch of PeKa B40 on 15 April 2019.

In tandem with the NHSI, as a snapshot ProtectHealth had co-organised PeKa B40 awareness campaigns and outreaches in Sabah, Penang and the Klang Valley from July 15-17, 2022:
● Collaboration with Yayasan PETRONAS on PeKa B40 Outreach Programme in Pitas, Sabah (Kg Mangkapon, Kg Boribi, Kg Gunsali, Kg Mapad and Kg Ranggal)
● PeKa B40 Promotional and Awareness Booth, in conjunction with Programme iSejahtera at Dewan Pejabat Daerah dan Tanah, Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang
● PeKa B40 Outreach Programme at Dewan Mutiara, Jabatan Kerja Raya, Seberang Perai Tengah, Penang
● PeKa B40 Promotional and Awareness Booth, in conjunction with BP Health Carnival at KL Convention Centre
● PeKa B40 Promotional and Awareness Booth at Karnival Komuniti PPZ-MAIWP at PPR Seri Perlis 2, Kuala Lumpur

Similar programmes are being aggressively conducted weekly nationwide to increase awareness and the health screening numbers nationwide.

PeKa B40 was designed to focus on early detection of Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancers, and heart diseases or known as NCD amongst the B40. Hence, beneficiaries would be more aware of their overall health status.

“Early detection saves lives. Members of the public may check their eligibility, by keying their IC number on our website at https://kelayakan.pekab40.com.my/semakan-kelayakan,” said Dato’ Dr. Anas.

PROTECTHEALTH AIMS TO SCREEN 22,266 SARAWAKIANS ELIGIBLE FOR  PeKa B40 SCHEME IN 2022

08 JULY 2022, KUCHING – ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) targets to screen at least 22,266 beneficiaries in Sarawak, under its programme called Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Golongan B40 (Peka B40) for 2022. This target would contribute to the national target this year, which is to screen at least 200,000 beneficiaries under this scheme. This year’s national target is double the total numbers that PeKa B40 achieved in 2021 with 101,673 screenings.

Pursuant to this, ProtectHealth encourages those eligible Sarawakians who are in the bottom 40% income (B40) group, aged 40 years and above to undergo free health screening of the the PeKa B40 Scheme, which will enable them to enjoy other health benefits including Health Aid (HA), Completing Cancer Treatment Incentive (CCTI) and Transport Incentive (TI).

ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli said in Sarawak, since PeKa B40 was implemented from 15 April 2019 to 30 June 2021, a total of 88,089 individuals have undergone the free health screening.

Dato’ Dr. Anas also highlighted that the numbers of beneficiaries screened in Sarawak between 1 January to 30 June last year have increased by 84 per cent from 6,390 to 11,778 people, as compared to the same corresponding period this year.

PeKa B40 was designed to focus on early detection of Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancers, and heart diseases or known as NCD amongst the B40. Thus, the beneficiaries would be more aware of their overall health status.

“Financial constraint is the main factor that hinders B40 families from obtaining appropriate healthcare, the reason why they need to make use of this scheme, and to detect any underlying health issues that they may have.

“Early detection would also mitigate the repercussions of NCDs, affecting the quality of life of individuals. Poorly controlled NCDs will result in an increase of people with disabilities who possess a limited capacity to produce goods and services. From a macroeconomic point of view, the increasing prevalence of NCDs contributes to economic loss because of reduced labour productivity and rising health care costs to treat NCD patients.

“Hence, we have been embarking on a series of engagements and outreaches throughout the country, to spread the awareness of PeKa B40 and making the programme more accessible to the Rakyat,” stated Dato’ Dr. Anas.

Following this, ProtectHealth and Member of Parliament Batang Sadong, YB Dato Sri Hajjah Nancy Shukri who is also the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia organised a PeKa B40 Outreach Programme at Dewan Mesra in Simunjan, here today.

In April this year, ProtectHealth had also collaborated with the Sarawak State to increase the accessibility of the PeKa B40 programme to the Rakyat of Sarawak.

Dato’ Anas encourages all eligible beneficiaries in Sarawak who are entitled for the PeKa B40 scheme, to visit their nearest clinic and undergo the free health screening.

“Early detection saves lives. Members of the public may check their eligibility, by keying their IC number on our website at https://kelayakan.pekab40.com.my/semakan-kelayakan,” he stated adding that the PeKa B40 scheme in Sarawak is supported by 146 general practitioners, 138 government clinics (Klinik Kesihatan) 23 government hospitals and 5 pathology labs.

PROTECTHEALTH AIMS TO SCREEN 11,818 PENANGITES ELIGIBLE FOR  PeKa B40 SCHEME IN 2022

21 JUNE 2022, PENANG – ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) targets to screen at least 11,818 beneficiaries in Penang, under its programme called Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Golongan B40 (Peka B40) for 2022. This target would contribute to the national target this year, which is to screen at least 200,000 beneficiaries under this scheme. This year’s national target is double the total numbers that PeKa B40 achieved in 2021 with 101,673 screenings.

Pursuant to this, ProtectHealth urges those eligible Penangites who are in the bottom 40% income (B40) group, to utilise the PeKa B40 Scheme, enabling them to undergo free health screening and enjoy other health benefits including Health Aid (HA), Completing Cancer Treatment Incentive (CCTI) and Transport Incentive (TI).

ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli said in Penang, from 15 April 2019 to 31 May 2021, a total of 39,364 individuals have undergone the free health screening.

“Early detection saves lives, so we encourage all eligible beneficiaries in Penang who are entitled for the PeKa B40 scheme, to visit their nearest clinic and undergo the free health screening. Members of the public may check their eligibility, by keying their IC number on our website at https://kelayakan.pekab40.com.my/semakan-kelayakan, ” he said during PeKa B40 Outreach Programme at Dewan Pusat Kegiatan Masyarakat Valdor, here today, adding that the Outreach programme is part of the current nationwide programme called National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) targeted to boost the health screening awareness and numbers in Malaysia.

Dato’ Dr. Anas also highlighted that the numbers of beneficiaries screened between 1 January to 31 May last year had increased by 58.3 per cent from 1,573 to 2,490 people, as compared to the corresponding period this year.

“If there’s anything that we can learn from the pandemic is that those with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) faces the most severe consequences from COVID-19. As such, it is very important to screen early and have a mindset change to seeking better health literacy and increasing awareness. Furthermore, now our nation is in the endemicity phase, and there is nothing to prevent Penangites from being screened as all the machinery had been established,” he said.

Currently in Penang, the PeKa B40 scheme is supported by 177 general practitioners, 27 government clinics (Klinik Kesihatan) 8 government hospitals and 15 pathology labs.

Since its inception in 2019, PeKa B40 was designed to focus on early detection of NCD amongst the B40. The PeKa B40 Scheme would minimise beneficiaries from incurring high costs in medical expenses, apart from them becoming more aware of their overall health status.

The growing trend of NCDs has caused a negative impact on the economic growth of the nation. Hence, we have been embarking on a series of engagements and outreaches throughout the country, to spread the awareness of PeKa B40 and making the programme more accessible to the Rakyat,” stated Dato’ Dr. Anas.

Pursuant to the Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s announcement during the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will launch a National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) in July to encourage members of the public to conduct health screenings and detect NCDs in Malaysia.

ProtectHealth through PeKa B40 will continue to work hand in hand with private medical practitioners and Healthcare NGOs to maximise the implementation of the NHSI.

PROTECTHEALTH CONTINUES AGGRESSIVE EFFORTS FOR PeKa B40 IN LABUAN

7 JUNE 2022, LABUAN – Pursuant to the Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s announcement during the World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will launch a National Health Screening Initiative (NHSI) in July to detect non-communicable diseases (NCD) in Malaysia.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) through private medical practitioners and Healthcare NGOs will work together with the MOH to maximise the implementation of the NHSI in order to attain the target.

In conjunction with the NHSI, ProtectHealth has since last year been embarking on a series of engagements with all the states in the country through its programme called Skim Peduli Kesihatan untuk Kumpulan B40 or known as PeKa B40 to spread the awareness of the importance of health screening.

One of the engagements was with the Federal Territory of Labuan Health Department, which was held today with Dr. Mohd Zaki Bin Ab Hamid, Deputy Director of State Health (Public Health) Labuan, Dr. Noorharizan binti Harun, Deputy Director of State Health (Medical Division) Labuan, Dr.Viviane Vincy Lodin, Head of Family Health Development Section, Public Health Division, Dr. Azrah Binti Hamzah, Supervisor for Primary Health Clinic and Dr.Sabrina Dhanamani Daniel, Head of Development Section, Public Health Division and also with seven participating General Practitioners in Labuan.

“However, there are more than 12,631 who are eligible but haven’t taken the opportunity to do the health screening under the PeKa B40 in Labuan. Early detection prevents complications and saves lives. As such, we encourage all Labuan B40 population to visit any of the participating clinics to get the free screening.” he told the media during the press briefing at Millennium Clinic, here today.

Dato’ Dr Anas also visited four other clinics under PeKa B40 to observe the health screenings of several beneficiaries.

SECOND COVID-19 BOOSTER DOSE AVAILABLE TO ALL ABOVE 60 YEARS AND FOR  HIGH-RISK ADULTS AND ADOLESCENTS

13 MAY 2022 – As announced by YB Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Health Malaysia on 11 May 2022, all adults above 60 years old can now obtain a second dose of the COVD-19 booster after four (4) to six (6) months from their first booster dose.

In addition, adults aged 18-59 years old, and adolescents aged 12-17 years old with clinical risk of severe disease (chronic heart, lung, kidney, liver, etc.) who have high risk of developing severe symptoms or even succumbing to death due to COVID-19 infection can obtain their second booster dose after four (4) to six (6) months from their first booster dose as advised by a medical professional.

ProtectHealth Corporaion Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli said the decision to roll out the administration of the second booster shot was made after the Technical Working Group looked into the scientific studies that vaccine efficacy against COVID-19 infection wanes significantly.

“Studies have shown that vaccine efficacy against hospitalisation is favourable for at least five months. However, two doses of COVID-19 vaccine during primary series with a booster still provides durable protection against the most severe outcomes in adults,” he said.

Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli also highlighted that the second booster dose is voluntary and given for free under the COVID-19 National Immunisation Programme (PICK).

“If you’re helping the senior citizens and those high-risk individuals to obtain their second booster dose, you’re taking a huge step towards safeguarding your health and the health of your family, neighbours, and the community. Let’s together keep protecting our most vulnerable groups.”

As of 11 May 2022, a total of 11,653 doses of second booster have been administered to adults aged 60 years and above.

ProtectHealth through private medical practitioners and Healthcare NGOs will continue to assist and work together with the Ministry of Health to maximise and expedite the implementation of the second booster dose and encourages PMPs to participate in the programme.

SECOND COVID-19 BOOSTER DOSE AVAILABLE FOR HIGH-RISK ELDERLY AND BOOSTER DOSE FOR MODERATE AND IMMUNOCOMPROMISED ADOLESCENTS

15 APRIL 2022 – As announced by YB Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Health Malaysia on 14 April 2022, those above 60 years old with high comorbidities (Appendix 1) who are more susceptible to severe COVID-19 infection can now obtain a second dose of the COVID-19 booster after four (4) to six (6) months obtaining the first booster dose.

Also, following the announcement, adolescents aged 12 years old with moderate or severe immunocompromised (Appendix 2) may get their booster dose at least 28 days after completing their second vaccine.

Meanwhile, healthy elderlies above 60 years old without high comorbidities could only opt for the second booster dose on the advice of a medical professional.

The vaccine that will be used for the implementation of the second booster dose is the Pfizer-BioNTech (mRNA Comirnaty) Covid-19 vaccine.

The decision to roll out the administration of the second booster shot was made after the Technical Working Group looked into the scientific studies as well as studies carried out by the Malaysia cohort on those aged 60 and above with lung disease, heart disease, kidney illness, liver disease and diabetics who have high risk of developing severe symptoms or dying due to Covid-19.

Other than that, the Ministry of Health (MOH) also allows adult individuals who plan to travel overseas to obtain their second booster dose at lFor senior citizens who have completed their primary vaccination and booster jab but who have contracted COVID-19, they may apply for the second booster injection three (3) months after recovering from the virus.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli highlighted that the second booster dose is voluntary and given for free under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (PICK).

“We welcome this development, as the objective of administering the second booster dose is to ensure an optimum protection level for the elderly and high-risk individuals, being the most vulnerable groups.

“As we transition into endemicity, it is very important to continue protecting our most vulnerable population and this is one of such efforts. In addition, we have also received many queries and requests from the public about the second booster dose.

“In view of the upcoming Hari Raya festivity, I strongly advise those high-risk individuals to obtain better self-protection against the COVID-19 virus by obtaining their second booster dose vaccine,” he said.

As of 14 April 2022, a total of 15.9 million doses of booster have been administered and 12.3 million doses or 77.4% were contributed by Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs) and Healthcare Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) under ProtectHealth.

ProtectHealth through private medical practitioners and healthcare NGOs will continue to assist and work together with the MOH to maximise and expedite the implementation of the second booster dose and encourages PMPs to participate in the programme.

HOME VACCINATION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS UNABLE TO GO TO PPVs

25 MARCH 2022 – As announced by the Minister of Heath YB Khairy Jamaluddin on March 17, 2022, senior citizens are advised to go for the COVID-19 vaccination and booster shot for better self-protection against the virus, especially with the start of Ramadan.

ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (ProtectHealth) is fully aware of the situation for some senior citizens and understand they may not be able to make their way to the PPV due to logistical issues. As such, ProtectHealth will assist the elderlies to obtain their booster shot by providing vaccination service at the comfort of their home by utilizing an existing programme called HOME VACCINATION.

The Home Vaccination service is a Government initiative, to expand the coverage and expedite booster dose vaccinations before the full vaccination privileges are withdrawn from those vaccine recipients who do not obtain the booster dose by 31 March 2022 and to protect the elderlies as they are the vulnerable groups.

During the fasting month, many senior citizens are expected to assemble at the mosques to perform Tarawih prayers and attend gatherings either indoors or outdoors. With these situations occurring over a prolonged period, and usually in close proximity there  are high possibilities in the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

Those who are interested can register through these methods:

ProtectHealth Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Dr. Anas Alam Faizli advises those elderlies to obtain their booster dose immediately to ensure that the transition to the endemic phase commencing April 1 can be implemented safely, and before the status of their certificate on their MySejahtera application turns to incomplete.

“For those who have not been boosted yet, the colour of the vaccination certificate in the MySejahtera application will change to White if they have not taken the booster dose before April 1. With the introduction of Home Vaccination, we want to provide a hassle-free and seamless experience for those elderlies unable to access the PPVs.

“Indeed, the Omicron wave is not seen as aggressive as Delta, but for the elderly, especially those with comorbidities, it will not be a mild disease as this can lead to death. As such, we appeal to members of the public to ensure your parents are protected against the COVID-19 virus. Please protect your loved ones, and by doing this, we will protect everyone and the communities,” he said.

As of 24 March 2022, a total of 15.5 million doses of booster have been administered and 12 million doses or 77.4% were contributed by Private Medical Practitioners (PMPs) and Healthcare Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) under ProtectHealth.

ProtectHealth through private medical practitioners and healthcare NGOs will continue to assist and work together with the Ministry of Health to expedite and maximise the implementation of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Booster.
